How to Lock Down Layering

The other day it was so cold outside, I had no choice but to think about how to lock down the layering look. It brought me back to my childhood days. My mom insisted on layering me up in serious amounts of clothing and I always resisted (sorry, Mom!) I will say though, layering did what it was supposed to do, and that was to keep me warm.

I know I shared some of my favorite coat picks in my previous post, but this one is worth bragging about. This cozy textured coat from Free People, also known as the “the teddy bear coat,” is not only warm, but the camel tone makes it easier to wear with any color. It has a lower v-neck collar, so wearing the right under-layers is essential.

If you haven’t already noticed, turtle necks are my thing. Not only do they look good, but they keep your neck snug, and I just love the way they look under over-sized button ups, like this linen one.

I had to add another layer to the mix, and this camouflage jacket pulled the look altogether. I also hadn’t worn it in a while, so I wanted to show you guys how a little print would do the job 🙂

I will admit, the jeans I’m wearing deserve their own post. They are by far the best looking denims I own and they go with most of my wardrobe. These red Ego Official boots are a favorite find. I’ve actually never heard of this UK brand until recently. They’re great, inexpensive, and shipping was fast. I’m pretty sure I’ll be ordering from them again really soon!

Do you usually layer up during colder months? How do you pull it off? Let me know in the comments below!
